BRIEF INTRODUCTION

Project management is one of the most in-demand skill sets across industry and is among the fastest growing professional disciplines in the world. It is critical to organizational success and is a key element now required by most government agencies and commercial organizations. And in September 1999, The PMBOK® Guide became a formal American National Standards Institute (ANSI) Standard, ANSI/PMI 99-001-1999.

Through the Project Management Certificate Program, students will develop project management skills that apply to large or small projects, IT projects, product design and development, construction projects, software development, and every kind of effort with definitive performance time, and funding targets. This program has been designed for project managers new to the profession; experienced project managers wanting to improve skills or to prepare for the PMP® certification exam; and technical leads, functional managers, construction supervisors, engineering managers, account managers or information technology managers interested in understanding or applying project management best practices.

The stated purpose and goal of PMI’s Project Management Certification Program is the development, maintenance, evaluation, promotion, and administration of a rigorous, examination-based, professional certification program of the highest caliber.

In 2006, the PMP credential process received ISO 17024 accreditation.

The Project Management Institute (PMI)® has established a multi-level Professional Certification Program to provide a formal method for recognizing the knowledge and experience of project managers, regardless of where they may be in their career. Experienced project managers can pursue the Project Management Professional (PMP)® certification, while new project managers can pursue the Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)® certification.

Accrediting Association: Project Management Institute (PMI)®


The Foundations of Project Management course concentrates on the general methodology of managing a project from concept to operational use, with emphasis on the functions, roles, and responsibilities of the project manager. This course uses the structured project management framework of initiation, planning, execution, control, and formal closing as defined by the Project Management Institute (PMI)®, with real-world tips to ensure project success. This course provides a solid foundation of understanding from which other courses in the program will build.


The Project Planning and Cost Management course provides students with an understanding of the project planning process, with an emphasis on schedule and budget development and management. Planning processes are the processes performed to define and mature the project scope, develop the project management plan, and identify and schedule the project activities that occur within the project. Students will be provided with tools and techniques for estimating project costs and activity durations to develop an accurate budget and schedule for the project. Students will learn to plan resource management effectively to ensure project success through execution.


The Project Execution and Control course guides students through the processes of Executing the project and Monitoring and Controlling work throughout the life cycle. Students will learn tools and techniques for managing the project team and work quality through execution, as well as how to compare actual work accomplished against baseline schedules and cost.  Armed with this data, they will also learn to identify early warning indicators to gain greater insight into potential risk areas and prepare more accurate completion time and cost forecasts.


The Project Leadership and Building High Performance Teams course examines the characteristics of a High-Performance Team and explores techniques for building and sustaining a team that can perform at the highest possible level. Leadership is one of the three skills required for effective project management as outlined in the PMI Talent Triangle®. In this course, students will learn how to assess a team, how to build trust within a team, how to improve the communication between members of a team, and how to identify and overcome the common dysfunctions of a team. This course provides students with leadership theory integrated into day-to-day practice and strategies for developing their personal leadership skills.


With the acceleration of the advancement of disruptive technologies, organizations are becoming increasingly complex and are at risk of failing to innovate. In response, project management practices are evolving to remain effective in an environment of increased complexity and uncertainty. Agile methodology values individuals and interactions over processes and tools, working software over comprehensive documentation, customer collaboration over contract negotiation, and responding to change over following a plan. With higher complexity in projects project managers need cross functional teams to coordinate, work, and collaborate with business representatives increasing project success. The Essential Principles of Agile Project Management course provides students with practical tools and techniques to implement agile methods to manage projects in a high-uncertainty environment.


PMI’s PMP® credential is the most important industry-recognized certification for project managers. Globally recognized and demanded, the PMP® demonstrates that you have the experience, education and competency to lead and direct projects. The Project Management Professional (PMP)® and Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)® Exam Preparation Capstone is an intensive training program that provides an in-depth overview of the PMBOK® Guide Sixth Edition and the PMP® and CAPM® Examination Content Outlines, including strategies for preparing for and taking the exam. Topics include management of integration, scope, time, cost, quality, human resources, communications, risk, procurement and stakeholder management. The course also covers ethics and professional responsibility. 

This course is designed to prepare participants for the PMP® or CAPM® exam and ultimately increase his or her project management skills and project execution efficiency.
